Pesticide companies found guilty of human rights abuses
The jury of the Permanent Peoples' Tribunal has returned its preliminary verdict on the six agrochemical companies accused of gross human rights abuses. It is damning in its conclusions and calls upon national governments and international institutions to take action to hold the companies criminally responsible for their actions and to ensure that the power of these companies is no longer put before people and planet.
The preliminary verdict and recommendations can be read at the following link: Preliminary verdict
Roasted, Baked or Mashed
However you serve them, potatoes are a firm British favourite. In the early 40's the Women's Land Army planted a mile of potatoes in Brighton as part of the war effort. Now a new Land Army, led by the Green Centre and the Craven Vale Children's allotment plan to recreate the mile of potatoes across the city. For every potato plant you grow we will add 1 foot to our total. We need 5,280 plants to create the mile. To find out more about this project and how to include your potatoes contact spuds@thegreencentre.co.uk . If you do not have access to e-mail, please call 01273 687700 and leave your name and contact details.
