plums and wasps

Picking plums before they are ripe avoids wasp attack and damage. Victoria plums begin to colour with red flecking and can be picked and put on a warm windowsill and eaten as they turn a rich orange and are soft. Otherwise don't forget the wasp trap: a jamjar with a spoonful of cheap jam and two inches or so of water tied around with string and suspended near the fruit trees will attract and drown the wasps.
